On the web (marvinmoney.com): start your trial without entering a card. After 7 days, Marvin quietly reverts to Free unless you upgrade. We never auto-charge you on the web.

On the App Store / Play Store: Apple and Google require a payment method on file before a trial can start — that's their rule, not ours. They'll auto-renew at the end of the trial unless you cancel from your device's subscription settings. You won't be charged during the 7 days.

Yes, on every platform. Upgrades start immediately and we pro-rate the difference. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle so you keep what you paid for.

Switching plans during the free trial works on the web, the App Store, and the Play Store. Apple and Google both let you change plans within the same subscription group mid-trial without losing the trial — the new plan applies right away.

Starter gets the full read-only experience — receipt scanning, the complete timeline (past, current, future months), spending forecasts, the dashboard insights, smart summaries. Pro adds the conversation: open Marvin chat and ask anything (*"can I afford this trip?"*, *"why was last month so tight?"*, *"what should I cut?"*). It also adds affordability checks. The chat is what justifies the price jump — everything you need to see your money is on Starter; Pro is for when you want to talk through decisions with Marvin. Pro also lifts bill sharing from one other person to five including you; Pro+ removes the limit.

Yes. On Starter you share a planned bill with one other person. On Pro you can split it between up to 5 people including you — a household on the rent. On Pro+ there's no limit — friends on a trip, a big shared house. Each person accepts their own share, and their timeline only ever shows what they owe, never anyone else's numbers. And you can always be part of a bigger group someone else runs, whatever your own plan.

It's a plain planned-vs-actual breakdown — what your bills and budget said a month would cost, next to what you actually spent — that you can drill from category to subcategory to the individual merchant. It reconciles to the cent, with a short plain-English read on what drove any gap. Tap the forecast on your Budget page to open it. It's on Pro and Pro+.

No plan is unlimited. Every plan, including Pro+, has a monthly Marvin AI usage allowance. When you reach it, AI chat and Vision-based receipt scanning pause until your next billing cycle resets the budget. Other AI-assisted features (insight banners, smart summaries) keep working with reduced response quality after the cap. Your live usage and reset date are visible in your account Settings, so you can pace yourself. Full details in our Terms.

Yes — buy an AI Booster on the web. A Booster raises your AI allowance by a set percentage — +25% or +50% — for the rest of your current billing cycle. You'll find them on marvinmoney.com only (not inside the iOS or Android apps), from your AI Usage card in Settings, on Pro and Pro+. A Booster ends when your cycle ends, and it costs the same whether that's a month away or a day. We show your renewal date before you buy, because if it's close, waiting for the reset usually gets you more.

Web checkout shows the currency before you pay. Some countries are charged in their own currency. Most are charged in US dollars — your bank converts at its own rate and may add a fee. On the App Store and Play Store, Apple and Google handle the currency themselves.

Apple and Google set in-app subscription prices through their own regional tier systems, with their own currency, tax, and regional adjustments. Web prices are set separately. Each platform manages its own billing.

Yes. Your bank password is never shared with Marvin. Receipts and statements you upload are read to extract your transactions, then discarded — the files aren't kept, and they're never used to train shared AI models. Read more on our privacy page.

It's an optional convenience, and the part that matters is on every paid plan. Anyone on Starter, Pro, or Pro+ can drop a statement or snap a receipt and let Marvin Vision sort it — that's how we recommend using Marvin at any tier. Auto-import is a hands-off shortcut we include in Pro+ (US & Canada, more countries coming); you won't get better data or insights by connecting a bank — it just saves you the upload, and Marvin works fully without it.

You can export everything as CSV and JSON anytime, even on Free. If you delete your account, we wipe your data permanently within 30 days — no backups, no ghost copies.
